Abstract

The theory of triple helix discusses that at different stages of knowledge production and transformation, the innovation subjects, namely university, industry and government, join together and form the triple helix model in which the three strands influence each other and rise spirally as well, among which there are two kinds of circulation on macro and micro levels. The entrepreneurial university is the promoting device of the triple helix relations among university, industry and government.Five typical key elements, including a strengthened steering core,an enhanced development periphery,a diversified funding base,a stimulated academic heartland, and integrated entrepreneurial culture, have played different promoting roles in the course of the organizational transformation of European entrepreneurial universities. The theory of triple helix and the practice of the European entrepreneurial universities provide beneficial inspiration for the organizational transformation of Chinese universities.
