Effect of ginsenoside Rg3 on apoptosis of cervical cancer Hela cells

Abstract

Objective: To investigate the apoptosis effect of ginsenoside Rg3 on cervical cancer Hela cells.Methods: Hela cancer cells were treated with ascending concentration of ginsenoside Rg3.Morphologic changes of apoptotic cells were observed by optical microscope after HE staining.Cell survival rates and apoptosis were detected by cell counting kit-8(CCK-8) and cell flow cytometry(FCM).Results: Morphology changes of apoptosis and apoptotic body were found by optical microscope,including cellular shrinkage and nucleus chromosome condensation.After treatment by ginsenoside Rg3 at dosage of 10,20,40,80μg/ml for 48 h,Hela cells were found to have a mean survival rate of 76.3%,57.1%,50.0%,29.8%,FCM showed a serious ascending apoptosis rates of 16.4%,37.0%;50.0%,69.8%,demonstrating that Rg3 induced apoptosis in Hela cells.Conclusion: Rg3 can induce the apoptosis of Hela cells with a concentration dependent manner.
