Clinical effect of combined trabeculectomy for glaucoma

Objective To investigate the effect of combined trabeculectomy for the patients with glaucoma. Methods From January 2006 to December 2007, 122 patients (132 eyes) who performed combined trabeculectomy in our hospital were reviewed. We added Mitomycin C and adjustable suture in the operation for achieving functional filtration vesicle and perfect intraocular pressure and Followed up for half year. Results The incidence rate of shallow of anterior chamber was 15.15% after combined trabeculectomy in early period. Followed up for half year, the success rate of operation was 98.48% , and all eyes have formed the functional filtration follicles. The before operation group and the post-operation group have been compared and are of remarkable characteristics(paired t-tests, P0.01). The follow-up period, we didn’t find the shallow or disappeared of anterior chamber and the low of intraocular pressure. Conclusion The combined trabeculectomy is applicable to many types glaucoma with less complication and high successful rate.
