Effect of Nursing Intervention on Quality of Life in Patients with Gastric Cancer

Abstract
Objective To investigate the effect of nursing intervention on the quality of life after surgery for gastric cancer.Method A total of 220 patients with gastric cancer were randomly divided into intervention group and control group,with 110 patients in each group.All patients were given routine nursing care.The intervention group was additionally given nursing intervention,including diet guidance,rehabilitation exercise,psychological adjustment and enhancing family and social support.The quality of life was compared between the two groups.Results Total quality of life scores and subscale scores significantly decreased 3 months after treatment in both groups.Moreover,total quality of life scores and subscale scores in control group reduced more obviously than those in intervention group(P0.001).Conclusion Nursing intervention can improve the quality of life in patients with gastric cancer during treatment and rehabilitation phase.
