On the Pragmatic Interpretation of Translation in the Perspective of Relevance Theory

Relevance theory,a powerful theory in pragmatics,provides a pragmatic perspective for translation studies,communication across language and culture.Relevance theory holds that language communication of human beings is an ostensive-inferential process of searching for relevance and that translation involves a dual process of communication between the source text(ST) writer,the translator and the target text(TT) readers.Based on the cognitive point of view,the relevance theory brings forth a new understanding of the communication process and gives a reasonable account of the translation process and the translation strategies involved.
