Clinical investigation of chemotherapy with CF/5-Fu,DDP, Vp-16 in patients with advanced gastric adeno-carcinoma

Objective To assess the antitumor efficacy and tolerance of the combination of CF /5-Fu, DDP and Vp-16 in advanced gastric adenocarcinoma patients. Methods Forty-one patients with advanced gastric ade-nocarcinoma were treated with iv infusion of DDP 30 mg/day for 4 days, Vp-16 100 rag/day for 5 days, CF 200 mg/ m2 /day for 5 days,as well as 5-Fu 375 mg/m2 /day.5-Fu was given through a catheter in the subclavin vine Ihour after CF infusion. The above scheme was repeated every three weeks. Results Of 41 cases of gastric adenocarcinoma 7 achieved CR and 17 PR,and the response rate (CR+ PR) was 58.5% .The main toxic side-effects included leukopenia,alimentary tract reaction and mucositis. Leukopenia was observed in 75.6% of the patients, but grade III of it was only found in 4.9 % . Grade I - II thrombocytopenia occourred in 31.7 % of patients. The alimentary tract was 39% and mucositis 17.1 % . Conclusion ELFP regimen has relatively high response rate in patients with advanced gastric adenocarcinoma.The toxicity is slight and can be well tolerated.
