Abstract
Objective To study the levels of fasting serum glucose(GLU) and uric acid(UA) in the age groups over 45(years old). To observe the relationship of the prevalence of high uric acid and hyperglycemia with sex and age. Methods The level of fasting UA was measured with uricase method and fasting glucose level was measured by electrode. Results The level of GLU and the ratios of impaired fasting glucose(IFG)and diabetes were significant different among all age groups. The serum uric acid level and the positive rate of high uric acid were found higher in male than that in female in each age group. Conclusion The level of UA and the ratios of IFG, the prevalence of diabetes and hyperuricemia were increased with age. The results obtained in the present study are obviously higher than those in other reports.
