Effect observation of improved small incision extracapsular cataract extraction in combination with intraocular lens implantation.

Objective To evaluate the effect of small incision extracapsular cataract extraction in combination with intraocular lens implantation.Methods 128 patients(206 eyes)were given the operation of small incision extracapsular cataract extraction in combination with intraocular lens implantation during September 2006 to January 2009,the postoperation vision and complications were analysed.Results The postoperation vision has improved in different degrees.In the first day of postoperation,185 eyes(89.8%)0.3～1.0;21 eyes(10.2%)countfinger～0.2.Complications during operation included corneal edema,uveitis,temporal high intraocular pressure.All these complications were well treated.Conclusion Clinical observations indicated that this surgery is a valid method for the treatment of cataract with low cost,it seems to be simple,safe and effective.Therefor,it is advisable to be advacated in grass-roots hospitals.
