Abstract
A spectrophotometric method for determination of trace molybdenum with a chromogenic reagent DMHPF was studied. In H_2SO_4-H_3PO_4 medium, molybdenum formed an orange-red 1∶2 complex with DMHPF in the presence of Triton X-100,which had absorbance maximum at 526 nm.The apparent molar absorptivity is 1.4×10~5L·mol~(-1)·cm~(-1).Beer' law was obeyed for molybdenum in the range of 0~10μg/25ml.Most of other metal ions do not interfere with the determination. The present method was used to determine trace molybdenum in medicinal tablets with satisfactory results.
