Abstract

Objective To investigate the protective effect of baicalein against carbon tetrachloride(CCl4)-induced hepatotoxicity in mice. Methods The experimental model of liver injury was induced by CCl4 in mice. The serum alanine aminotransferase(ALT),aspartate aminotransferase(AST) and liver malondialdehyde(MDA) were determined. The pathological examination of liver was performed. Results Baicalein significantly reduced serum ALT, AST activities and liver MDA content, and the liver lobule were ameliorated obviously. Conclusion Baicalein has a protective effect on acute hepatic injury induced by CCl4.
