Abstract
Objective:To compare sedative and hypnotic action of different extracts of fructus cnidii.Method:Fructus cnidii were produced into water extract, volatile oils, ethanol extract, total coumarines and so on.To observe the effects of the ethanol extract, water extract amounting to crude drug dose and isodose volatile oils, total coumarines on spontaneous motion and sodium pentobarbital-induced sleep dosage in mice.Result:The ethanol extract and water extract of fructus cnidii could reduce significantly spontaneous movement and prolong sleeping time, and ethanol extract is better(P0.001);but the water extract and volatile oils showed an invisible effect on spontaneous movement, the latency of sleep and sleeping time comparing with the normal group. Conclusion:The ethanol extract and total coumarines have effects on sedative and hypnotic, and ethanol extract is stronger.
