Village Administrative System in the Song Dynasty

Township is the basic administrative unit under the county in the early years of the Northern Song Dynasty,and is replaced by Bao-Jia system after Wang Anshi's Constitutional Reform.Bao-Jia System which is handed down from the Northern Song to the Southern Song Dynasty is a levelled system of Xiang、 Du、 Bao、 Jia.Bao-jia system in the Song Dynasty is the result of the development of the township administrative system of previous dynasties and has its unique administrative and political function.
