Abstract

In this paper the technique of the 3D solid-liquid finite element method(FEM) of strength reduction considering the coupling of saturated-unsaturated seepage is studied and the corresponding program for the FEM is developed.By comparison of the FEM calculation with the results obtained with the limit equilibrium method, the applicability of the FEM to analyze the slope stability is evaluated. The results show that the FEM method is feasible to analyze the stability of the slope considering the saturated-unsaturated seepage.
