Abstract

Objective To investigate the expression of IGFBP-2 in gastric carcinoma and its clinical significance and to explore the relationship with cell proliferation. Methods Expression of IGFBP-2 and Ki-67 in 97 cases of gastric carcinoma and 30 normal gastric mucosa were detected by EnVision immunohistochemical technique. Results Expression of IGFBP-2 protein in gastric carcinoma was higher than that in normal gastric mucosa(P0.05).There was no difference between high-grade and low-grade gastric carcinoma (P0.05).Expression of IGFBP-2 protein in advanced gastric carcinoma was higher than that in early gastric carcinoma(P0.01);expression of IGFBP-2 protein in gastric carcinoma with lymph node metastasis was higher than that without lymph node metastasis(P0.05).IGFBP-2 protein expression was positively related to clinical stage(P0.05).There was also positive correlation between IGFBP-2 and Ki-67 in the cancer (P0.05).Conclusion IGFBP-2 may be involved in carcinogenesis and progression of gastric carcinoma by promoting cell proliferation.
