A STUDY ON STYRENE/ACRYLIC EMULSION FOR WATERBORNE ANTIRUST COATINGS

Abstract

A styrene/acrylic emulsion with a core/shell structure has been prepared from styrene,acrylic acid,butyl acrylate and other monomers by use of pre emulsifying technology and semi continuous seed emulsion polymerization method.By means of orthogonal testing and overall merit assessment,a systematic study is conducted on various factors influencing the performance of the styrene/acrylic emulsion.Optimum technological parameters are determined.Properties of the emulsion are also studied by way of gel chromatography,DSC and particle size distribution,etc.
