The Efficacy of Tension Band Steel Wire Combined with Memory Alloy Patella Claw in the Treatment of Comminuted Patellar Fracture

Objective To investigate the curative effect of tension band steel wire combined with memory alloy patellar claw in the treatment of comminuted patellar fracture.Methods 48 cases of patients with comminuted patellar fracture,including 33 males,15 females,admitted in our department from February,2009 to February,2012 were treated with tension band steel wire and memory alloy patella claw.All the patients were followed up after operation.The fracture healing and knee joint function recovery of the patients were observed.Results All the patients were followed up for 10 to 24 months with an average of 17 months.All fractures were healed.The excellent and good rate was 97.9% after operation according to the knee score.Conclusion Tension band steel wire combined with memory alloy patella claw for the treatment of comminuted patellar fracture can not only fix and reset comminuted fracture but also prevent the fracture displacement.In addition,it is beneficial to the recovery of knee joint function with high fracture healing rate and fewer complications.
