Analysis of the curative effect of Cannulated compression screws combined with tension band wire for patellar Fracture

Objective To observe the curative effect of internal fixation of patellar fracture by cannulated compression screws combined with tension band wire.Methods From September 2006 to august 2008,23 cases of patellar fracture treated with cannulated compression screws combined with circumferential loop and tension band wire were enrolled at the second hospital of shanxi medical University.There were 12 cases of transverse fracture,8 cases of comminuted fracture,and all cases were closed fracture.Results Totally 23 cases were followed-up.Follow-up period was 4 months to 12 months.The Fractures healed 8-10 weeks after operation.Xu Shao-ting,etc.used to develop the efficacy criteria,excellent in 17 cases,good in 5 cases,middle 1 case.Conclusion This study demonstrates that internal fixation with hollowed bolts and tension band for the treatment of patella fracture with excellent rate of 95.6%.which is an effective technique for transverse fracture and comminuted fracture of patella;and has a strong bio-mechanics advantage,allow early knee joint activities to promote fracture healing,prevention of knee stiffness,worthy to be popularized.
