Abstract
In order to know the germicidal efficacy and toxicity of Jie-Bao-Ling-Brand chlorine dioxide disinfectant, suspension quantitative germicidal test and animal toxicity test were carried out. Results: The killing logarithm of Escherichia coli and Staphlococcus aureus exposed to the disinfectant solution containing chlorine dioxide 12.5 mg/L for 10 min and 15 min was ≥5.00. The killing logarithm of spores of Bacillus subtilis var. niger exposed to the solution containing chlorine dioxide 50 mg/L for 20 min was ≥5.00. Laboratory and simulated field test for water disinfection and natural water (river water) disinfection test showed that the minimal effective dose was chlorine dioxide 0.15 mg/L with a contact time of 20 min. pH and water temperature had no obvious influence on its germicidal efficacy, while organic substance had influence on its germicidal efficacy. Toxicity test indicated that this disinfectant belonged to practically non-toxic class. It was slightly irritative to skin and mouse bone marrow polychromatic erythrocyte micronucleus test was negative.
