Abstract
In order to know the germicidal efficacy and toxicity of a stable solid chlorine dioxide disinfectant, quantitative carrier germicidal test and toxicity test were carried out in laboratory. The results showed that the disinfectant solution containing chlorine dioxide 100 mg/L with a 3 min contact time killed over 99.9% of Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli on cloth strips in average, the solution containing chlorine dioxide 250 mg/L with a 15 min contact time killed 99.97% of spores of Bacillus subtilis var. niger on cloth strips in average. The solution containing chlorine dioxide 200 mg/L with a 15 and 20 min contact time killed 100% of E. coli on porcelain bowls and chopsticks. The results of toxicity test indicated that the acute oral LD 50 of this disinfectant was 2000 mg/kg body weight in female mice and 1710 mg/kg body weight in male mice, so it belongs to low toxic grade. Its cumulative coefficient K was5, belonging to weak cumulative toxicity. The test dosage of this disinfectant did not cause micronuclei in polychromatic erythrocytes of mouse bone marrow. Its chlorine dioxide content decreased by 3.15% after storing at 54℃ for 14 days. Conclusion: This disinfectant has good germicidal efficacy and low toxicity and is stable and convenient for use.
