Abstract
In this thesis, the analyses of the causes of urban poverty mainly are two-theory-oriented,that is, the structural explanation and the cultural explanation. In China, urban poverty was derived from the social transformation and therefore, it was acturally structual poverty at the beginning. However, with the passage of time,if the situation of structual poverty can not be improved for long, the structual poverty will deteriorate to cultural poverty, which will cause even more potential problems for the poor. As a result, the anti-poverty policies of the government should not only set eyes on eliminating the structural poverty, but also should be committed to curing the cultural poverty.
