Long Term Feeding Study of Panax Ginseng Powder on Rats' Liver and Kidney Function

Abstract

Objective To study the effect of ginseng powder on rats' liver and kidney function following long term exposure via daily oral consumption.Methods Three groups of rats were given with the dose of 4,6and 8(g/kg BW per day) ginseng powder and one group with foundation animal feed only for 180 days.On the 45th,90th and 180th day of the test,the serum biochemistry(Cr,ALT,BUN,etc.)of empty stomach rats were measured.The indexes' difference of the three stages between 4 groups was compared.Results There was no apparently difference between 4 groups' indexes of serum biochemistry(Cr,ALT,BUN,etc.)of empty stomach rats(all P0.05).Conclusion There is no bad influence on rats' liver and kidney function after long term exposure via daily oral consumption with ginseng powder at the certain dose.
