Abstract

Objective To reveal type and distribution of the pathogen of HFMD in Shandong Province in 2009. Methods Stool, herpes fluid, throat swab and other specimens of clinically diagnosed cases with HFMD were collected. These specimens were tested by RT-PCR assay with three primer sets:universal enterovirus,CA16-specific and EV71-specific primers; virus was isolated by RD and Hep-2 cells from the positive stool specimens of universal enterovirus primers. Results 1 604 specimens from clinically diagnosed cases with HFMD were collected. 990 cases were tested positive, including 589 cases of EV71 positive,29 cases of CoxA16 positive,2 cases of both EV71 and CoxA16 positive. The infect ratio of EV71 and CoxA16 was respectively 36.72% and 1.81%. And 32 enterovirus strains were isolated from 80 stool specimens including 23 strains of EV71 and 4 strains of CoxA16. Conclusions The HFMD in Shandong Province was mainly caused by EV71,accounted for 59.50% of the number of EV positive specimens. All cities of Shandong Province had HFMD caused by EV71.
