Clinical Application of Flowable Resin to Anterior Primary Teeth for Aesthetic Restoration

Abstract

Objective To evaluate the clinical effect of light-cure flowable resins on the aesthetic restoration of anterior primary teeth caries.Methods Two different preventive restorative treatments were applied to anterior primary teeth in 65 patients(169 teeth).Test group:85 anterior primary teeth were removed their caries tissue,in which 40 teeth of enamel caries were treated with Wave Flow flowable resins(test group A) and 45 teeth of dentine caries were treated with Wave Flow flowable resins and composite resin(test group B).Control group:84 anterior primary teeth were treated with composite resin,in which 37 teeth of enamel caries were treated with composite resin(control group A) and 47 teeth of dentine caries were treated with composite resin(control group B).The successful rates on the 3rd,12th,36th month after the restoration of anterior primary teeth caries were analyzed.Results The patients were followed up for 3 years.There was no statistical difference in the successful rate on the 3rd,12th month after the restoration of anterior primary teeth caries between the four groups(P0.05).But after 36-month follow-up,the film coating retention rates of test group A and B were 88.6%,87.2%,which significantly higher than those of control group A and B(65.6%,61.9%).There was statistical difference between test groups and control groups(P0.01);Test group was superior to control group in shade,color and secondary caries of restoration(P0.05).Conclusion Light-cure flowable resin used in the aesthetic restoration of anterior primary teeth is reliable and effective.
