Abstract

Objective To compare the efficacy of mifepristone for emergency contraception with levonorgestrel tablets. Methods Among 200 women who required emergency contraception due to unprotected sexual behavior or failure in contraception within 72 hours,100 women orally took mifepristone as observing group, while another 100 women orally took levonorgestrel tablets as compared group. The efficacy and side-effects were observed. Results The pregnancy rate of observing group was 0%,compared group was 6%.The efficacy of the former was better than compared group with marked difference(P0.05),There were milder side-effects,but no marked difference(P0.05).Conclusion Mifepristone is a safe, efficient treatment with mild side-effects and it is worth popularizing for emergency contraception.
