Abstract

Mencius takes heaven or divine as a person's value origin;he also thinks that the good is inherent in the worldly life of people and can be achieved.Xun Zi emphasizes the distinction between nature and man, heaven or divine is pure natural concept, people also gain an entirely natural life from heaven, and have no innate moral stipulation.Ritual and other ethical content are all entirely derived from the acquired knowledge and practice of creating.Desire is an important part of human nature. We can't ban desire, and desire itself is neither good nor evil. The good and the evil are the results of social management.Xun Zi constructs the system with the core of ritual to adjust desire, which is different from the moral concept of Mencius.Xun Zi hopes to find a balance point between human desire and social order through the reasonable distribution by principles.
