The Effect of Metoprolol on Cardiac Function in Patients with Congestive Heart Failure

Abstract

Objective: To study changes of cardiac function during metoprolol therapy in patients with congestive heart failure(CHF).Methods: Engity-two patients with congestive heart failure(New York Heart Association functional class Ⅱ-Ⅳ) were treated with carvedilol at the beginning does of 12.5mg/d and was slowly titrated to 150mg/d as tolerated or the dose can be just tolerated.At the same time,adverse events was evaluated.Results: both groups had significant differences(P0.05) Conclusion: There still exists activation of neuroendocrine during ACEI medication in CHF patients,and it can be suppressed by administration of metoprolol and in the meantime,LVEF was elevated.
