A Clinical Observation on Acupuncture for 30 Cases of Sciatica

Abstract

Objective To observe the relation between pain threshold and therapeutic effect of acupuncture for sciatica,and analyze the feasibility of taking pain threshold as a standard for quantizing the therapeutic effect of sciatica.Methods Totally 90 cases of sciatica were randomly and equally divided into 3 groups.Warm needling was used in warm needling group,while Nimesulide in western medicine group and Anisodamine in acupoint injection group respectively.Pain threshold was observed before and after treatment.Results Warm needling group was superior to other groups in therapeutic effect and pain threshold(P0.01).Conclusion Acupuncture can increase pain threshold and relieve clinical symptoms for sciatica.
