Observation of the Therapeutic Efficacies of IBS with Enema of TCM

Objective To observe the therapeutic efficacies of irritable bowel syndrome(IBS) with enema of traditional chinese medicine(Enema 2).Methods A total of 238 IBS patients were divided randomly into treating group(n=128) and control group(n=110) and according to different symptom,each group was divided into three types: constipation-IBS(C-IBS) group,diarrhea-IBS(D-IBS) group and intermix-IBS(I-IBS) group.128 cases were treated with enema 2(composed of Huang-qi,Da-huang,Huang-qin,Huang-lian,Bai-zhu),110 cases took orally medicine tablets Chang Yan Ning and Ge Gen Qin Lian.Results The effective rate of treating group was 96% and was significant efficacy than that of control group(P0.01).Among treating group,the effective rate of C-IBS group was 98%(P0.01),I-IBS group was 95%(P0.01)and D-IBS group was 94.7%(P0.05).Any drug-related adverse reaction was not seen.Conclusion The efficacy of Enema 2 is definite for treating IBS.Clyster treatment with herbal medicine decoction can work on the focus directly and has better curative effect.
