Clinical Study on Treatment of Adult Chronic Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura by VP Regimen Combination Medical Herbs

Objective: To observe the clinical effect of treatment of adult chronic idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (CITP) by VP Regimen Combination Medical Herbs, and study the possible mechanism. Methods: Effect of 39 patients of CITP in treatment group treated by VP Regimen Combination Medical Herbs and 40 patients in the control group treated by VP Regimen were observed and compared. Their modern pharmacology and immunology were determined for exploring the mechanism. Results: The markedly effective, improved and total effective rate of the treatment group were 25 6%, 48 7% and 89 7%; while those of the control group were 17 5%, 30 0% and 75 0% respectively, the difference between the two groups was significant ( P 0 01). The effect of the treatment group was better than the control group in platelet count restoring, hemorrhagic synptoms improving and effect initiating ( P 0 01). Partly immunologic test showed that the humoral immune function as well as platelet function were abnormal in CITP patients. These functions were improved after treatment, and the effectiveness of the treatment group was significantly superior to that of the control group. The ill effect of hormone and immnuno suppressive drugs to obtain relieving and disappearing to go through Medical Herbs resistancing. Conclusions: VP Regimen Combination Medical Herbs is reliable in treating adult CTTP clinically. Its mechanism might be due to its recovery of platelet count and function.
