Abstract
Objective To study the change of serum sICAM 1 in patients with acute cerebral infarction and its clinical significance. Methods The level of serum sICAM 1 was measured serially with two layer antibody sandwich ELISA in 68 patients with acute cerebral infarction,31 patients with TIA and 30 normal controls. Results It was shown that the level of serum sICAM 1 in patients with cerebral infarction 24 hours after the onset was higher than that in patients with TIA and normal controls(P0.01).The level of serum sICAM 1 was significantly higher in the patients with large cerebral infarction than that in patients with medium and small cerebral infarction(P0.05).The level of serum sICAM 1 in patients with cerebral infarction increased from 2 hours to 7 days and decreased from 7 days to 14 days. Conclusion These findings suggest that sICAM 1 be closely related to the development of acute cerebral infarction, it plays an important role in pathological procedure of cerebral damage after cerebral infarction.
