Abstract

Objective To study the expression of VEGF and its correlation with metastasis and prognosis in NSCLC1 Methods The expression of VEGF and MMP-9 were detected by Streptavidin Peroxidase (SP) method in 54 cases of NSCLC, 36 adjacent tumor tissues and 20 benign lesions respectively, the relationship between such expression and Clinical pathological features of NSCLC was also studied. Results VEGF was expressed in 70 of 54(70. 4%) cases of lung cancer, 15 of 21 (42. 9% ) cases of adjacent tumor tissues and 5 of 12 (25%) of benign lesions; there was no significance difference between VEGF expression and histological subtype , differentiation and TNM stages, there was correlation about lymph node metastasis . The positive expression rates of MMP - 9 were 67. 7%, in the 54 NSCLC. Their expression levels were significantly higher than those in the paracancerous normal lung tissues(P0.05) . The positive rate of MMP-9 in lung cancer were closely related to the pathological grades , TNM stages and lymph noge involvement (P 0.05) , but not to the histological classification of the cancer(P0. 05) . Conclusions Detection of VEGF and MMP-9 expression in NSCLC is helpful to evaluate the biological behavior of lung cancer, and served as a valuable factor for estimating patients' prognosis.
