The study of the relationship between the expression of VEGF and MMP-2 and the tumor incursion metastasis of non-small cell lung cancer

Abstract

Objective Abstract Objective To probe into the relationship of the expression level of VEGF and MMP-2 and the shaping of tumor incursion metastasis and malignant phenotype for non-small cell.Methods 60 patients were diagnosed as primary non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with clear-cut pathologic diagnosis and competed pathological data and visited for 6-64 months and whose postoperative lung cancer tissue paraffin section and near cancer part normal lung tissue paraffin section were determined for the expression level of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2) with immunohistochemistry SP.Results The positive rates of VEGF and MMP-2 were 68.3% and 65.0%,respectively.Comparing with the cancer side normal tissue,there was significant difference (P0.01).The positive expression rate of VEGF and MMP-2 had positive correlation with clinical pathological stage and the size of the tumor (P0.01),and was both significantly higher in patients with lymph node metastasis and recurred cancer than in those without (P0.01).VEGF and MMP-2 were found of no relationship with age,gender,histological and habit of smoking (P0.05).An obviously positive linear correlation was found between expression of VEGF and MMP-2 (P0.01).Conclusion The expression of VEGF and MMP-2 is related to the tumor size,clinical pathological stage,lymph node metastasis and reoccurred cancer.VEGF and MMP-2 is closely related with characterization of the invasion and metastasis of NSCLC.VEGF and MMP-2 is also valuable for judging the malignant degree for tumor.
