Abstract

Objective:To evaluate the responses and adverse reactions of in section of bleomycin combined with closed thoracic drainage to treat malignant pleural effusion.Methods:Sixty-five patients with malignant pleural effusion were applied with central venous catheters. All patients were received the closed thoracic drainage and then were treated by intracavity injection of bleomycin.Bleomycin was given 45 ~ 60mg each time. The duration of the treatment was one time perweek for a consecutive two to three weeks. The therapeutic effects and adverse reaction were observed one month after the treatment. Results:There were 27 patients of CR,32 patients of PR,3 patients of NC and 3 patients of PD.The overall effective rate for the treatment was 90.7 % (59/65).Conclusion:After draining pleural fluid completely, intracavity injection of bleomycin is easy and effective. In treating malignant pleural effusion.
