Abstract

The effect law of quenching and tempering temperature with subcritical quenching on the strength and hardness of 45 steel was studied by orthogonal regressive principle, the microstructure and property of the steel after subcritical quenched were analyzed. The results show that in the austenizing temperature range of 740~800 ℃,the strength and hardness of 45 steel increase with the temperature rising, the ferrite content decreases gradually and ferrite distribution form also obviously changes. The mechanical properties obtained by quenching at 800 ℃ are close to that by conventional quenching at 840 ℃.Based on the experiment,a new quenching and tempering processe with quenching at(780±10) ℃ and tempering at(550±10) ℃ for 45 steel piston is proposed.
