Abstract
Objective To investigate the expression and significance of PTEN and p53 in the tissues of invasive carcinoma of cervix uteri and cervical precancerous lesion. Methods The expressions of P53 and PTEN protein were detected by immunohistochemistry method(SP)in 30 cases of chronic cervicitis,25 cases of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia(CINⅠ),15 cases of CIN Ⅱ,10 cases of CINⅢ,30 cases of invasive cervical squamous cell cancer(10 cases of stage Ⅰ,10 cases of stage Ⅱ,10 cases of stage Ⅲ~Ⅳ).Results The positive expression rates of PTEN in chronic cervicitis,CIN Ⅰ,CIN Ⅱ,CIN Ⅲand invasive cervical squamous cell cancer were 100%,92%,73.33%,40%,36.67%,respectively.The positive expression rates of PTEN in these specimens were in turn decreased, and there were significant differences among them(P0.05).The expression of PTEN was correlated with the pathological staging of squamous carcinoma of the cervix(P0.05).The deletion rate of PTEN in p53 positive cervical carcinoma was 70.83%,which was 61.54%in p53 negative cervical carcinoma, but there was no significant difference between them(P0.05).Conclusion PTEN and p53 may play an important role in the pathogenesis and development of cervical squamous cell cancer, and PTEN and p53 can be used as the indexes for screening high risk population of cervical cancer, which can also be used as the indexes for evaluating the prognosis of patients with cervical cancer.
