Abstract
Objective: To investigate the efficacy of MEBO in the management of the wounds in thick skin graft donor sites. Method: 72 cases of deep burn in functional positions received moderate and thick skin grafting after eschar removal and plastic surgical operation due to cicatricial contracture. 32 of them had their wounds in the donor sites treated with traditional method (group A) and 40 cases treated with MEBO (group B). The results of the 2 groups were compared. Result: Wounds in group A healed in 10 to 28 days, the average healing time was 17.4±7.4 days, among them, 6 cases had wound infections. In MEBO group, wounds healed in 9 to 17 days, the average healing time was 12.2±4.2 days, only one case had wound infection. The difference in the wounds healing time between the 2 groups is of significance (P0.01). Conclusion: The application of MEBO in the treatment of skin graft donor site wounds can significantly shorten the wound healing time and relieve pains.
