Abstract

Objective To investigate an effective method for undergraduates mental health education. Methods 65 undergraduates, who attented the course naming Social Adaptation and Mental Health, were devided in 3 different groups(i.e.male and female group, lower and upper classman group and rural and urban household group)and investigated by using Acceptance of Others Scale(AOS),The Self Acceptance Questionnaire(SAQ),Self Consistency and Congruence Scale(SCCS).Results ①The total mean scores of AOS,SAQ,after attending course, was significantly higher than those before attending course both in lower than those before attending the course in all three groups.③There were no significant differences in self-evaluation factor in SAQ and self-absonant factor in SCCS before and after course in upper classman group.④There also were no significant differences in self-evaluation factor of AOS before and after the course in utban household group. Conclusion The results indicated that the course naming Social Adaptation and Mental Health contributes to improve undergraduates interpersonal attitude and is an effective method for undergraduates mental health education. The earlier we pay attention to undergraduates interpersonal attitude, the more we have the possibility to develop and perfect their self-consciousness.It's necessary to give rural household students earlier attention because of their longer adaptive period needed.
