Determination of serum prealbumin and C-reactive protein in children's infections diseases

Objective To appraise the value of the examination of serum prealbumin (PA) and C reactive protein (CRP) in the children with eraly infection for the distinctive diagnosis and curative effects. Methods We examed the blood routine and the content of PA、CRP in 50 infected children and 20 normals. Results (1) By comparing the bacterial infection group with groups of viral infection and the control, PA level was lower and CRP level was higher with statistically significant differences ( P 0.001). (2) The differences of PA and CRP were statistically significant, in the group of bacterial infection between pretreatment and post treament. Conclusion In children's acute infections, the examination of serum PA and CRP is helpful to make distinctive diagnosis at early stage, it is also valuable in dynamic judgement of curative effect.
