Abstract

Objective To investigate the dynamic changes of serum apolipoprotein A1(ApoA1) and B(ApoB) level in patients with liver cirrhosis accompanied by hepatic encephalopathy as well as its clinical significance. Methods Serum ApoA1 and ApoB level were determined in 128 cirrhosis patients and 96 healthy persons.One-hundred and twenty-eight cirrhosis patients were divided into hepatic encephalopathy group and non-hepatic encephalopathy group.Serum ApoA1 and ApoB level had been compared not only between cirrhosis patients and healthy persons, but also between hepatic encephalopathy group and non-hepatic encephalopathy group.Meanwhile through pair matching,we analyzed the changes of serum ApoA1 and ApoB level before and after treatment in 27 cirrhosis patients accompanied with hepatic encephalopathy. Results The level of serum ApoA1 and ApoB in cirrhotic group and hepatic encephalopathy group were significantly lower than those in healthy group and non-hepatic encephalopathy group respectively. After two-week treatment, among 27 cirrhosis patients accompanied with hepatic encephalopathy, the serum ApoA1 increased in those who got better(P0.01),while decreased in those who got worse(P0.05).However,the changes of serum ApoB had no statistical significance. Conclusions Serum ApoA1 and ApoB level are closely correlated with the extent of liver injury.
