Abstract

Objective The present study was conducted to analyze the epidemic status of AIDS in Huangzhou City, get the knowledge of the characteristics and tendency of the epidemic status and provide basis for establishing the emphases to prevent and control AIDS in the region. Methods Statistically analysis was made based on the data such as AIDS reports, surveillance, and special topic survey in Huangzhou City. Results The floating personnels outside the province were the main infected ones (covering 70.13%). The infected cases were mostly males (covering 78.40%), but the infection rates between males and females were becoming similar gradually. The cases were mainly young persons at the age from 20 to 39 (covering 77.60%). Blood transmission was the main route (covering 63.20%), and the infection rate by intravenous injection route was 52.53%. But sexual transmission was the main route for floating population in the province and local permanent population in Huangzhou City, whose infection rates were 50.00% and 50.94% respectively. Floating population outside the province were mainly infected by intravenous injection route, which covered 69.58%. Conclusion The epidemic status of AIDS in Huangzhou City still increased, so intervention for high risk behaviors of the natives and the population inside the province should be enhanced. Condom should be generalized to block the route of sexual transmission. In order to find and manage the source of infection early, surveillance and examination of floating population outside the province should be strengthened.
