Abstract

Objective This analysis was intended to learn about the trait of epidemic situation by virtue of assaying accumulative AIDS cases in Dalian city so as to afford valuable basis for the institution of local working direction of prophylaxis and control of AIDS. Methods Statistic analysis was conducted in light of AIDS monitoring and epidemiological management data in Dalian city. Results There was an accumulation of 84 cases of AIDS infectors/patients detected, of which there were 7 cases of death. 58 males and 26 females were implicated, with the youngest of 9 and oldest of 54 years old. Before 1997, 100.00% of the detected were males, 91.00% of which were through blood infection and 82.00% of which were from floating populations; in the current epidemic situation, 30.95% were females, 46.43% were infected by sexual pathways and 39.28% were permanent residents. Conclusion The situation of AIDS in Dalian has experienced a change from introduction period to transmission period with sex as a predominating pathway, indicating that high-risk behavior intervention of AIDS should be carried out in this region, including the use of condoms to decelerate the transmission of AIDS.
