Results of malaria surveillance at the late stage of malaria eradication in Yongfu County,Guangxi in 1993-2007.

Abstract
Aim To survey results of malaria surveillance and control in Yongfu County after basic elimination of malaria in 1992.Methods Data concerning malaria surveillance and control in Yongfu County including the workers returned from outside of the county in 1993-2007 were collected and analyzed.Results During the last 14 years,there 91 malaria cases were reported,95.6% of them were floating population,97.8% of them were infected with Plasmodium vivax.There 81.61% of the malaria cases were returned from Hainan Province and some patients were acquired the disease in Myanmar.Conclusion Local malaria patients were not found in the county from 1993 to 2007 and all the malaria cases occurred to floating population.Thus the floating population are the target for malaria control in this county.
