Abstract
OBJECTIVE To observe the curative effect of thymic peptide α1 combining with antibiotics on cirrhosis complicated with spontaneous bacterial peritonitis (SBP). METHODS Seventy four patients with SPB were randomly divided into treatment group (36) and control group (38). On the basis of conventional treatment the patients. In the treatment group thymic peptide α1 was injected subcutaneously once a day for 7 days and then once per two days. The procedure lasts 15 days. In the control group the conventional treatment was used for 15 days. The effective rate, total amount of TBL,number of PMN,and the change in T-lymphocyte subsets CD3+,CD4+,CD8+ and CD4+/CD8+ before and after the treatment were observed. RESULTS After the therapy with thymic peptide α1,the effective rate, total amount of TBL,and the number of PMN were increased notably. There was an obvious increase of CD3+ and CD4+ cells, but no distinct change in CD8+ cells, and a clear improvement of the proportion of CD4+/CD8+. CONCLUSIONS Thymic peptide α1 can improve the immune function of patients with SPB and help to adjust the inflammational reacton status. Its use with antibiotics can enhance the curative effect significantly.
