Abstract

Objective: Epidermoid cyst was studied to provide the diagnosis value of ultrasound. Methods: 121 cases of Epidermoid cyst were retrospectively studied by the characteristics of ultrasound, elastosonography and three-dimensional ultrasound. Results: All masses were found by ultrasound, which were confirmed by pathology after surgery.63cases of epidermoid cyst, ultrasound diagnostic accuracy was 52%, 22 cases of cyst and 36 cases of benign disease were diagnosed by ultrasound.Epidermoid cyst is absolute majority single, growing up skin, 4~40mm in size, lower-echo with other echoes, ellipse, boundary and capsular clear, hardness being general or softness, there is a lot of blood sign on the capsular. The elastosonography was at Grade II.It is easily to be misdiagnosed as the solid mass when the Epidermoid cyst is with secondary infection and granulation tissue. Conclusions: The characteristics of Epidermoid cyst by ultrasound is certain, which is helpful in the diagnosis of the disease on the basis of clinical manifestation.
