Abstract

The Transportation Research Board has released the fifth edition of the Highway Capacity Manual, long established as an essential reference and handbook, incorporating results from research completed since 2000. The new, expanded, multivolume edition significantly updates the methodologies that engineers and planners use to assess the traffic and environmental effects of highway projects. In this article, members of the authoring team review highlights, changes, and innovations.
