Abstract

Learning a language,in fact,is inseparable from learning its culture and taboo is part of it.Justified by a number of examples,a study of the similarities and differences of the English and Chinese taboo was made,providing evidence for the idea that taboo varies with different cultural backgrounds and showing a growing tendency of fading from language communication,which is of great importance for a language learner to have a better understanding of foreign cultures.
