Triple therapy of esomeprazole combined with levofloxacin and furazolidone for Helicobacter pylori eradication.

OBJECTIVE To observe the effect and safety of one week triple therapy of esomeprazole combined with levofloxacin and furazolidone for Helicobacter pylori(Hp) eradication.METHODS Ninety-eight patients with Hp infection suffering from peptic ulcer were divided into treatment group(49 cases) and control group(49 cases).The treatment group was administered esomeprazole with levofloxacin and furazolidone for one week.The control group was administered esomeprazole with clarithromycin and amoxicillin for one week.And then all two groups were treated with esomeprazole alone for another three weeks.Four weeks later,the Hp eradication,symptoms,peptic ulcer healing and side effects were observed.RESULTS The Hp eradication rate in the treatment and control groups was 93.88% and 75.51%,respectively,with significant difference(P0.05).The symptom release rate,peptic ulcer healing rate and side effect rate between two groups 95.92% and 91.84% and 93.88% and 89.80%,respectively.The difference was unsignificant(P0.05).CONCLUSIONS One week triple therapy of esomeprazole combined with levofloxacin and amoxicillin is the first choice for Hp eradication.
