Effects of sex on growth performance,carcass performance and meat qualities of synthetic line finishing pigs

Abstract
92 crossbred pigs 30 kg BW were chosen to study the effects of sex on growth performance,carcass performance and meat qualities.The results showed that the group of barrows compared with the group of sows,30-100 kg gain in weight and ADG increased by 5.86 %(P0.01)and 6.87 %(P0.01)respectively,average fatback and skin fat rate increased by 27.76 %(P0.01)and 20.46 %(P0.01)respectively,Marbling score and Intramuscular fat increased by 11.56 %(P0.05)and 7.25 %(P0.05)respectively.Compared with the group of barrows,Longissimus muscle area increased by 20.51 %(P0.01),the lean rate increased by 5.32 %(P0.01),and Cooking percentage increased by 1.10 %(P0.05)of the group of sows.The effects of sex on growth performance and carcass performance were significant,and the effects of sex on meat qualities were no significant.
