Abstract
The field experiments conducted on fingermillet at the Birsa Agricultural University, Kanke, Ranchi (India) during 1984, 1985 and 1986 with three doses (0.75, 1.0 and 1.5 kg/ha) of 2,4-D sprayed between 3–4 weeks of sowing and three new pre-emergence turbicides (pendimethalin 10 kg/ha, benthiocarb 1.0 kg/ha and oxadiazon 0.5 kg/ha) applied one day after sowing revealed that application of 2,4-D 1.0 kg/ha gave the same level of weed control and grain yield as weed free. These treatments had significantly better yield attributes as well as lowest weed number and weed weight.
