Abstract
Field studies carried out at the Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, durina 1989–90 and 1990–91 revealed that in pea, pre-emergence application of pendimethalin 0.75 kg/ha resulted in highest weed control efficiency (88.6%) and produced maximum grain yield which was significantly more than that under linuron 0.75 kg/ha, isoprotwon 0.75 ka/ha, cross sowing and unweeded control. However, this treatment was at par with methabe nzthiazuron 1.31 kg/ha and two manual weedin,s given 3 & 5 weeks after sowing (w.a.s). Maximum net returns of Rs. 5324/ha, over unweeded control was obtained with pendimethalin 0.75 kg/ha as against Rs. 3940/ha with two hand weedings. The pea variety Bonnville produced highest grain yield whereas lowest was obtained with Punjab 87.
